Diederik Stols (1969) has been a partner at Boekx since 2009. He specialises in intellectual property, advertising law, sponsorship, entertainment and the cultural sector. Diederik assists clients in a wide variety of industries such as sports apparel, design and fast moving consumer goods. Diederik studied at Leiden University and subsequently obtained an LL.M degree in intellectual property and IT law at King’s College in London. Before joining Boekx, Diederik practiced at global law firms Allen & Overy and DLA Piper. Diederik is listed as a leading intellectual property lawyer in Legal 500, WTR 1000 and Who’s Who Legal – Trademarks. He is fluent in English, German, French and Portuguese.
Diederik authored dozens of articles on intellectual property and media law. These were published in national media such as NRC Handelsblad and Financieele Dagblad, and in trade journals such as IER, Mediaforum and Marketing Rendement. Diederik was also a correspondent of the English trade journal Entertainment Law Review and a columnist for Netkwesties, a Dutch opinion platform. As Mentor Legal & IP of the US-based Founder Institute, he assists start-ups in the Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal. In addition, Diederik is regularly invited to give guest lectures on intellectual property at Leiden University and Utrecht University.
