Niek Weessies was admitted to the Amsterdam bar in February 2022. Prior to that, he worked at Boekx as a paralegal since 2020. He mainly deals with all aspects of intellectual property law, with a special interest in trademark law. Niek coordinates the anti-counterfeiting strategy in the EU for some well-known American-Italian streetwear brands. He also works in the field of media law and privacy.

Niek studied Dutch law at Utrecht University, where he also obtained his Master’s degree in private law with specialisation in intellectual property law. Niek wrote his graduation thesis on the impact of the EU Trademark Reform Package on the protection of non-traditional trademarks. In 2019, Niek studied a semester at Temple University Beasly School of Law in Philadelphia.

Prior to joining Boekx, Niek worked as an intern at Boekx and at another IP-IT niche firm in Amsterdam. He also regularly wrote legal blogs for, among others, the Dutch review website Advocaatscore.
